Are you ready for some Thanksgiving Day prep football? Prep sports fans can get their fill on Thursday, Nov. 27 as Sterling Heights Television (SHTV) presents its annual Thanksgiving Day High School Football Marathon.

Lakeside to debut exterior improvements Nov. 25 The Lakeside Shopping District will debut its new look Tuesday, Nov. 25 to celebrate completion of a $2.5 million public improvement project amid the start of the holiday shopping season.

Community Foundation seeks year-end donations Do you want be more involved in helping others in your community but can’t find the time?  The Sterling Heights Community Foundation can help you assist local students with college costs, provide fun for area teenagers, be a part of Sterlingfest, support local parks, honor the memory of a loved one, support vocations of interest to you and much more.


Second trail day project is this Saturday Volunteers are needed for the second “Trail Day” mountain bike path construction project at Jaycee Park in Sterling Heights this Saturday, Nov. 22.

Residents invited to Neighborhood Safety Summits The city will hold a series of “Neighborhood Safety Summits” at six local elementary schools, beginning in January. The purpose of the meetings is to explain the multitude of public safety initiatives underway in the community by both the Police and Fire Departments.

Council receives audit Results from an independent audit for fiscal year 2007/08 showed that despite financial challenges affecting all communities, Sterling Heights continues to manage its finances very well. Finance and Budget Director Brian Baker will present the audit to the Mayor and City Council during tonight’s City Council meeting.

DPW workers begin holiday drive for food, clothing for the needy The Sterling Heights Department of Public Works will once again assist the needy during the holiday season by sponsoring a one-day clothing drive to benefit the Salvation Army and a 17-day food drive to support the Macomb Food Program.
